“Tis Grias to Pidima” (Old Lady’s Leap)

Andros - Grias Pidima

The famous rock of Grias Pidima.

Apart from the lovely beach, the landscape is one of the island’s most charming. The shape of the rock that emerges from the sea has inspired the legend of the old woman that hurled herself into the sea, having regretted the assistance she offered the Turks in conquering the Castle.
Location
Following the coastal road of Ormos on the way to Vintzi, take the dirt road uphill and then the path that leads to the beach.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
The beach is deserted and there are no amenities.

Achla

Andros - Achla

The beautiful beach of Achla.

Achla beach is a beautiful sandy, peaceful beach with turquoise blue sea. A little river surrounded by plants is close to the beach. On the side of the beach you can find the nice chapel of Ag. Nikolaos.
Location
Reach the village of Vourkoti and take the unpaved road that drives to the beach (1,7 km).
Amenities – Equipment Provided
The beach is deserted and there are no amenities. You should consider the idea of taking a beach umbrella with you.

Agia Marina

A picturesque cove with small pebbles and trees.
Location
A little south from beach Delavogia

Agios Petros

It has a big, sandy beach and azure waters
Location
Near the port of Gavrio, under the village bearing the same name.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are small taverns, umbrellas and deckchairs.

Apothikes

Andros - Apothikes

Apothikes beach, saw from the sea.

A solitary cove with a lovely beach and crystal clear waters.
Location
It is located on the southwest side of the island and can be accessed from Stavropeda. The distance is around 2 km, half of which is dirt road.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
The beach is empty, only in Stavropeda can someone find a cafe-bar.

Cove of Korthi

It is a long and wide beach, open to the north. One of its characteristics is the old, renovated windmill.
Location
It is on the southeast side of the island, in front of the settlement of Korthi.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are showers and swimming and windsurfing lessons offered by the Nautical Club of Korthi. There are also shops, taverns and all the settlement’s amenities nearby.

Delavogia

A picturesque, green cove protected by winds.
Location
Very near Mpatsi on the south, following the road to Stavropeda.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are deckchairs and und umbrellas, as well as a beach-bar

Gialia and Piso Gialia

These two beaches are separated by a small hill and are among the island’s most beautiful. The first and larger, Gialia, is pebbled while Piso Gialia has sand and beautiful surroundings with rocks and pine trees.
Location
At the end of the coastal road Hora-Nimporio, before the turn to Stenies.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are showers and cabanas in Gialia and a tavern in both.

Gides

The beach is lovely, surrounded by rocks.
Location
It is the beach next to Vitali, separated from it by a hill. The hill can be passed by car or on foot, or circumvented by sea.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
It is a deserted beach with no amenities. For lunch one can visit the tavern at Vitali.

Kypri

It is a long, easily accessible beach, as are all the Westside beaches near Mpatsi and Gavrio. The chapel of Agios Kyprianos, glebe of the Monastery of Zoodohos Pigi is nearby.
Location
It is on the Gavrio-Mpatsi axis, that is the area with the most popular beaches in the island, after Hrysi Ammos.

There is a hotel in Kypri and a tavern near Agios Kyprianos.

Nimporio

A long but not very wide sandy beach, with beautiful rocks. It is easily accessed, just like nearby Paraporti, this is why they are both very popular. It can be reached from Hora’s center on foot.
Location
It is the north coast of the two beaches on the sides of the peninsula of Hora.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are showers and several amenities, such as supermarkets, a newspaper kiosk, cafes, bars, restaurants. This is also where the facilities of the Maritime Club of Andros are.

Paraporti

Andros - Paraporti

The calm water of Paraporti.

It has a nice and big sandy beach and beautiful surroundings, with a charming river with ducks, the Venetian Castle on the left and the Tourlitis lighthouse a little further away.
Location
It is the south coast of the two beaches on the sides of the peninsula of Hora.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There are no amenities in the beach, but ascending the stairs we come to the Kairis square of Hora, where there are restaurants, cafes and shops.

Vintzi

A small beach with little sand but easy access, crystal waters and a sense of having escaped the hustle and bustle of popular Ormos.
Location
Following the coastal road of the cove of Korthi, we find it just after the small port.

There are showers, cabanas and a restaurant

Vitali

A pebbled beach among bushy rocks. There is a picturesque chapel on the side.
Location
One of the island’s northeast beaches, it can be approached by the road Gavrio-Agios Petros after 15 km. Half of the way is by narrow, dirt road.
Amenities – Equipment Provided
There is a small tavern.

Zorkos

A very big, sandy beach surrounded by arid mountains and azure waters.
Location
It is one of the northeast coasts of Andros. We take the road from Gavrio to Fellos and continue to Varidi and then follow the signs to Zorko. Almost the entire route is asphalt roadway, except a small segment of dirt road just before the beach.
